WEEKEND FAMILY FUN – OCTOBER 27-28, 2018

Though Halloween just had to go and fall on a Wednesday this year, there is no shortage of not-so-spooky family events filling up the weekend prior. Pick your poison – do you want to trick-or-treat? Still hunting for that perfect pumpkin to carve up? How about a fall hayride? HALLOWEEN EVENT PICKS:

Sat, Oct 27: Afton’s Annual Trick-or-Treat Trail | St Croix Trail through Afton
Stop at local businesses for treats, activities and fun freebies. 10am-2pm, FREE.

Sat, Oct 27: Bruentrup Boo Bash | Bruentrup Heritage Farm, Maplewood
Live animals from the MN Raptor Center, puppet show, wagon rides, sensory scavenger hunt, concessions available for purchase. Dress for the weather. 1-3pm, FREE.

Sun, Oct 28: Great Pumpkin Halloween Festival | Landmark Center, St Paul
Get out your costumes for a parade, treats, storytelling and a performance by the Teddy Bear Band. 1-3pm, FREE.

I don’t know how she does it, but while I was out of the office the past week, Joy managed to find and add half a dozen more events to her Guide to Twin Cities Halloween Fun. It’s currently bursting with places to get more wear out of those cute Halloween costumes! Some of them include collecting treats at low-key venues such as these 10 Spots to Trick-or-Treat at Twin Cities Shopping Malls and Trick-or-Treating at Twin Cities Grocery Stores and Markets.


PUMPKIN PATCH PICK: Pleasant Valley Orchard, Shafer

Pleasant Valley Orchard hosts 12 Days of Halloween Oct 20-Halloween with special not-so-spooky activities, free pumpkins with purchase of a hayride to the patch (this weekend only) and fall apples available.

FALL FESTIVAL PICK:

Sat, Oct 27: Gibbs Farm Halloween | Gibbs Farm, Falcon Heights | 10am-4pm | $8/adults, $7/seniors, $5 ages 3+ | Enjoy an old-fashioned Halloween with popcorn balls, a penny scramble, trick-or-treating at the farmhouse, storytelling and more.

Sat, Oct 27 & Sun, Oct 28: Twin Cities Harvest Maze & Festival | Brooklyn Park
Minnesota’s largest corn maze and a whole crop of other classic fall festival activities: jump in the corn pit, take a hayride, meet some animals, run through the hay bales and lots more. A $10 wristband is all you need for most of the fun. This is the final weekend of the season.


TRICK-OR-TREAT PICK:

Sat, Oct 27: Pumpkin Fest 2018 | 50th & France, Edina
Enjoy trick-or-treating at local businesses starting at 10am (look for the sign in the window, kids 12 & under only, please), kids activities, horse-drawn trolley rides, a cake walk, and costume contest. FREE.

Sat, Oct 27: Lunds & Byerly’s Boo Blast and Fall Festival | Dress up, troll for treats and enjoy other activities. Fall Festival at 50th St Edina (10am-1pm) & Plymouth (11am-3pm). Boo Blast at Wayzata, Prior Lake & Hwy 7 Minnetonka (please see website for times).

Tons and tons of FREE trick-or-treating options going on this weekend. Makes our teeth hurt just writing about it! See our lists below for events are local grocery stores like Hy-Vee, Cub, Kowalskis, Lunds & Byerlys and Jerry’s Foods and also shopping malls and districts. Grab your costumes and get ready.
